Mine comes in blue, so you can know I'm the hero. And it's accessorized with a minimalistic, depersonalizing mask, because if we survive we're going to a fetish convention.

We're still steadily leveling up through all of this. You may be thinking "Ah yes, leveling up: another bog-standard, artificial and arbitrary method of permitting players to access tougher challenges than their skills can necessarily match", and you're partially right.

"Hang on," you may also say, "Didn't our last guy die? Why aren't you back to level one?" There is also a partial answer for this, which I will give in due time.

In any case, my health at this point is actually pretty decent. Half of what I'm shooting for already, and the new armor is exceedingly Practical so it gives me a nice boost.

which is why when I go to fight the God King this time, I actually manage to knock the first third off his health.

So! Now we have a choice! We can go for our sword, or we can... select the God King's crotch, you know what, I want to see where that goes.

The God King: Excellent - you have chosen wisely.

I was once a mere mortal, as you are now - but as you will come to learn, there are more powerful beings in this world than I. Deathless ones who have grown too powerful, too corrupt -

Together we will vanquish them all.
